This cake was for an engagement party with a Paris theme. In this case, the Eiffel Tower was constructed completely of sugar and edible which was a very interesting task! The cake is red with small ruffles and a fondant plaque celebrating the wonderful couple.

Getting Started

After watching women in my family cook and bake for 18 years, I decided to make a very simple pumpkin cake while at home from college one weekend. Despite my lack of experience and disinterest in cake baking and decorating, I found a new hobby that day in October. I didn't make my next cake for about 7 months. Just a few months and my first tier cake later I was hooked on cake decorating.

I have come to really enjoy decorating many different kinds of cakes from tiered cakes to character cakes to some difficult specialty cakes using buttercream icings. Finally I identified cake decorating as a passion of mine and signed up for two cake decorating classes through Wilton to refine my icing skills and learn specific techniques using fondant and gum paste.

I am truely excited to see what every new day and occassion brings to help me learn as much as possible. All cakes posted on this blog are cakes I have made. I appriciate any comments and tips you may have.
